KidZone Preschool

KidZone at Mill Grove UMCKidZone Preschool at Mill Grove UMC is a Monday-Friday (9am-1pm) preschool program for children ages 1-5.

An effective church-based preschool embraces sound child development principles in order to provide nurturing and guidance for young children in a Christian setting. In a loving secure environment, children learn to trust adults other than the parents while developing confidence in themselves and their abilities. Children learn to love successfully with others and are free to explore their own capabilities and the world around them.

A successful preschool:

  • Works to develop a feeling of self-worth in each child, building confidence in ability and worth by providing situations in which each child can succeed.
  • Aids children in learning to understand and live in God’s world.
  • Encourages self-expression through language, math, music, art and play.
  • Nurtures a child’s individual needs while in a small group setting.
  • Introduces life skills to help children understand and manage their emotions. These life skills are necessary to build a strong foundation for forming strong personal relationships in the future.
  • Appreciates a child’s unique talents and needs.

SISTERS (Formerly UMW)

Third Sunday of Every Month
HBC Room 206

Sisters in Service Together Exalting the Risen Savior

The SISTERS are an intimate, fun, and caring group of Christian women who enjoy gathering for fellowship, service, and sharing our love of Christ with each other. Our group is comprised of women from all ages and stages of life who love, support, encourage, and mentor one another while keeping each other grounded, accountable, and lifted in spirit and prayer. We are a safe place to talk about life’s challenges as a woman, a mom, a wife, and a Christian through devotions and personal conversations. We are actively serving as the hands and feet of Christ through many mission and service opportunities while sharing the love of God through word and deed. We celebrate each other’s victories and grieve each other’s losses. We hold church-wide events throughout the year to help support all members of our church and community. We praise God in everything and acknowledge him in all we do – for WE are HIS beloved! WE are a SISTERhood!

Please check the weekly bulletin or church website to confirm meeting info. We invite all women from both campuses to attend.  We hope you will join us!

Taste of Mill Grove

Each year, the SISTERS group at Mill Grove hosts a fundraising evening of fun and food. The Taste of Mill Grove is similar to The Taste of Charlotte, but with a little dash of something extra! Church members can sign up to be a ‘vendor’ and showcase the dishes they are best known for by providing small ‘bites’ for ticket holders to sample. In addition to sampling food from wonderful cooks, there will also be live and silent auctions. This is a family and community event!

How can you help?

  • Be a ‘vendor’: Cook your best dish and serve a little ‘taste’ to those attending.
  • Provide items for the silent and live auction.
  • Attend! The more the merrier!

All proceeds will go toward helping families or individuals in need within the church or community and will be distributed by the SISTERS.

HUGS Ministry

10:00am – 12:00pm / 6:00 – 8:00pm
HBC Room 203

HUGS Ministry

There is something so special about a handmade quilt. But as special and warm as each quilt is, it is so minute compared to the warmth felt when God wraps His loving arms around you. There is nothing like having the arms of Jesus hold you during times of pain or sorrow. The ladies of HUGS make quilts with love and prayer to minister to hurting people and newborn babies.

HUGS, a prayer and quilting ministry, has given over 200 homemade quilts for joyous occasions as well as to hurting people. We put these names on our prayer board and we keep these folks in our prayers. There are so many hurting people in the world today and as Christians, it is our responsibility and our privilege to let them know that God loves them. God can use anything to speak to people. It is not the quilt we make and give, but rather the prayers and people God uses to make the quilts to minister to hurting people. We also make baby shawls for the newborns in our church. Along with the baby shawl, we give a picture frame with a special poem which has the baby’s name in the poem as a keepsake for parents.

God has blessed our HUGS Ministry in many ways. We welcome all who want to work in this great ministry.

Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who receive special training to provide one-to-one Christian care to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, and many other life difficulties.

Homeless Shelter

Homeless Shelter

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Matthew 25:35 (NIV)

Mill Grove lines up monthly meals for the Union County Community Shelter for the second Wednesday of each month. The meal for about 75 people is prepared in advance and served at the shelter at 5:00pm. Servers should arrive at 4:30pm. Only about 5 people are needed to serve, and you will be finished by 6:00pm.

A very special thank you is extended for those who have already signed up.

Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Prison Ministry

During the initial Kairos weekend, volunteers serve as God’s instrument through which His love, grace, and mercy are expressed to the participants/guests in a real and profound way. God begins changing hearts.

Following their weekend experience, participants/guests are encouraged to take responsibility for their life choices and their relations with God; they are invited to engage in small accountability groups. Kairos volunteers continue to return monthly to provide mentoring and guidance through these accountability groups. It is here that Kairos participants/guests begin to replace old ways of thinking with new and they learn they are not alone on this journey. They realize there is a hope for a future. The prison environment begins to change; family relationships start to heal…..God is transforming lives.

Each year, 25,000 inmates and their family members are introduced to God’s love, grace, and forgiveness through Kairos.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

Since 1993, more than 100 million children in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ.

Provide a gift and share God’s love to children around the world through a gift-filled shoebox. Shoeboxes and brochures will be available in the Welcome Center.

During December, Mill Grove volunteers go the Charlotte Processing Centers. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Signups are available at the Welcome Center.
