The Mill Grove Food Pantry has partnered with Common Heart Ministries to better meet the needs of the hungry in our community. We now participate in serving over 400 families a month in two unique ways:
Mill Grove Food Delivery Teams – Families can contact the church office at (704) 882-3770 if in need of food on a regular basis. Families are assigned to a Mill Grove Food Delivery team who delivers food once a month to the home of the family. Each team delivers to the same family each month to build a trusted relationship as a means to minister to the families where they are. If home delivery is not an option for a family they can participate in the TEFAP on Monday evenings, but cannot receive both home delivery and TEFAP.
TEFAP Monday Night Distribution – Monday Night Food Distribution is held in the Worship Center from 7:00-8:00pm as part of TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program). Food stamp families automatically qualify and can bring their card to receive food once a month (as mandated by the program procedures). Families not on food stamps but in a temporary hardship due to illness or job loss may also come once a month and receive food as needed. No appointment needed.
How you can help
Donate non-perishable food items throughout the year.
Donate funds to the Mill Grove Food Ministry and Common Heart’s Common Cupboard. (Specify “Food Pantry” in the check memo.)
Serve on a Food Delivery Team.
Serve on Monday Night for TEFAP. This is a great opportunity for youth and families to take an active role in making a impact on those needing assistance. Volunteers are asked to be at the church by 6:40pm and stay until 8:30pm.
